The Antenna Interface Standards Group (AISG) is an industry consortium focused on establishing standardized protocols and specifications for managing and controlling antenna line devices in mobile and wireless communication networks. Formed in 2001, AISG’s primary goal is to promote interoperability among equipment from different manufacturers to simplify network setup and maintenance, which ultimately improves efficiency and lowers operational costs.

AISG standards address a variety of components used in cellular networks, including remote electrical tilt (RET) antennas, tower-mounted amplifiers (TMAs), and bias-tees, which are critical for optimizing network performance and handling network congestion. By defining a universal communication protocol, the AISG allows these components to be monitored and adjusted remotely. This remote control capability is especially important as telecom operators deploy 5G and advanced LTE networks, where precision in network tuning and coverage adjustments is essential.

The main specifications developed by AISG cover:

  • Communication Protocols: To ensure consistent messaging between base station equipment and antenna devices.
  • Power and Signal Standards: For safe and effective power transmission through cables used in antennas.
  • Mechanical and Electrical Interfaces: To maintain compatibility between devices from different manufacturers, promoting modularity in network setup.

The AISG standards are widely adopted by major telecommunications providers and equipment manufacturers, making them an essential part of the modern mobile network infrastructure.

To access AISG’s RET and RAE devices we’ve provided a software solution that works with standard AISG controllers. This solution contains 3 separate software each dedicated to a single device type. Supported device types are RET, Multi-Antenna RET, and RAE. All functions and commands from AISG standards are included and all configurations can be done in a single software. This solution is customized for our customer Galtronics and can be delivered with the custom requirements of future clients.
